Strengthen your faith in God's word

We know from chronologies that Ahaz was the son of Jotham and was from the lineage of David and the Kings of Judah. Why then does the Bible record Ahaz as the king of Israel when he was clearly the king of Judah only?

If you are a king of Judah, it is a part of the 12 tribes of Israel, which would also make him the King of Israel by that defenition because the 12 tribes are the sons of Israel. No contradiction.

If United States became un-united would that make me not an American?
The Israelietes split geographicly, but that doesnt exclude the other tribes from being the children of Israel(Jacob) so Israel also includes Judah, was Judah an Israelite? Ofcourse

Sometimes you really have to pay attention when you read.

There are other times when a geographical place is called by another name because it spiritually goes after that other place.

Deu_32:32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
Isa_1:9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
Isa_1:10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

Jer_23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
Jer_49:18 As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD, no man shall abide there, neither shall a son of man dwell in it.
Jer_50:40 As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.
Lam_4:6 For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.

Rev_11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Pay attention when you're reading the Bible! If there appears to be a contradiction God may be trying to wake you up whilest you're reading to show you some spiritual things but, if you're reading to find a contradiction there you are boys go ahead and eat it up ... to your own destruction.

2Pe_3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
