Didymus the Blind
Church father · died c. 398
A teacher at Alexandria, blind from the age of four, whom Athanasius put in charge of the city’s school; Jerome and Rufinus were his students. Because of his sympathy for Origen many of his works were lost after 553, though papyri of his commentaries were found at Tura in Egypt in 1941.
